Prisoners Escape During Unrest
In a dramatic turn of events in Nepal, unrest over a social media ban has led to the escape of over 1,500 inmates from various correctional facilities. Notably, 572 prisoners broke free from the Jaleshwar prison located in Mahottari after a group of protesters collaborated with them to breach the prison walls.
According to police officer Heramba Sharma, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. when a crowd of more than 500 demonstrators gathered at the prison. He noted that while the inmates were armed only with kitchen utensils, the protesters were equipped with crowbars, which hindered the police's ability to intervene effectively.
This situation is still developing, and further updates are expected soon.
